Product updates

What’s new on ShopHop: the features and fixes we’ve released for comparing Woolworths, Coles and Aldi prices, newest first.

  1. Shareable shopping lists (beta), plus smoother sign-in

    • Shareable lists are in beta: we’re still testing them, so things may change. If anything looks off, tell us at shophop.au/report-issue. Feedback is very welcome.
    • Share any shopping list with a link. Open the list, tap Share, then tap Copy and send the link. Whoever you send it to opens the link, signs in and taps Accept, and then you can both add and tick off items. Handy for a household shop or a weekend barbecue.
    • Everyone on the list sees the same items, with Woolworths, Coles and Aldi prices and running totals, and changes from others show up within a few seconds.
    • New to ShopHop? Tap “Create a free account” on the invite, confirm your email, and you’re added to the list automatically.
    • We’ll email you when you join a list, and let the owner know someone has joined.
    • Only the list owner can rename or delete a list. To rename it, open the list and tap its name. To delete it, tap “Delete this list” at the bottom of the list.
    • If a share link ends up somewhere it shouldn’t, the owner can open the list, tap Share, then tap “Reset link”. The old link stops working straight away, and anyone who has already joined keeps access.
    • Changed your mind? Open the list and tap Leave to leave a shared list at any time.
    • Password reset emails now work properly. Tap “Forgot password?” on the sign-in page and the link we email you takes you straight to setting a new password.
    • Sign-up confirmation emails now come from ShopHop, and the link signs you in and brings you back to where you were, including a shared list invite.
    • When we close a problem you flagged with the “Report a problem” button, we can now email you a short note on what we did about it.
    • Start a list at shophop.au/lists
  2. See when a product was out of stock, plus account security emails

    • Price-history charts now show when a product was unavailable at each store, with red markers and a plain note such as “Coles: out of stock since…”, so a gap in the chart is never a mystery.
    • The “Show unavailable” option in search now works properly, so you can include products a store currently isn’t selling.
    • For your security, we now email you whenever your password is changed. If it wasn’t you, the email has a “Reset my password” button that takes you to shophop.au/auth/forgot-password to set a new one.
    • If you ask us to delete your account, we now confirm by email once it’s done.
  3. Smarter price-alert targets

    • When you set a price alert, the target now starts at the lowest price ShopHop has actually recorded for that product, not a made-up discount, once we have enough history.
    • We show which store that low was at and how many days of history it’s based on, and let you know if your target is below anything we’ve seen. You can still set it.
  4. A refreshed product page, and faster search

    • Every product page has a new design, on desktop and mobile, in both light and dark mode.
    • A “Where to buy” section lists each store’s price side by side, with a “Today’s price” range so you can see how today compares.
    • Price history, cheaper alternatives and similar products sit right below, to help you find a better buy.
    • Some Woolworths deals only apply when you buy online. We now flag those with an “Online only” badge, so you’re not caught out expecting the same price in store.
    • When a store doesn’t carry a matching product, we used to show a blank dash. Now we say plainly whether we haven’t found a match yet, or the item genuinely isn’t sold there.
    • Multi-buy deals like “2 for $7” now show everywhere you compare prices: search results, the scanner and product cards, not just the full product page.
    • Pressing Enter to search now works on Safari and iPhone.
    • Price-history charts use a true time scale, with a visible marker on each recorded price.
    • Product images load faster, and pages show a placeholder outline while prices load instead of a blank screen.
Where to buy comparison showing a Woolworths price with “2 for $7” and “Online only” badges
Online-only deals are now flagged clearly
  5. Store prices side by side on every product, and ShopHop for AI

    • Every product page now leads with a “Today’s prices” panel showing Woolworths, Coles and Aldi together, after testing it on a single product first.
    • Square product images stay consistent on cards across search, specials and home deals.
    • New: connect Claude and other AI tools to live ShopHop prices to search, compare and check price history. Sign in and create a personal key to set price alerts and add to your lists from your AI tool as well. Start at shophop.au/mcp
    • The ShopHop app (the version you add to your phone’s home screen) now has “Save to list” and “Set price alert” buttons on product pages, right under the Buy button. Thanks to reader feedback for spotting the gap.
    • Your profile in the app now shows your recently viewed products, the aisles you browse most and your recent searches, so it’s quick to get back to what you were looking at.
    • Make it yours: pick an accent colour, choose your home store and postcode, and set a weekly grocery budget. New to the app? A quick setup lets you choose these before you sign in.
  6. Testing a new product page

    • We’re testing a new product page layout on a single product. It leads with Woolworths, Coles and Aldi prices together, so you can compare at a glance.
    • The cheapest chain is highlighted, with clear “not stocked” tiles when a store doesn’t carry the item.
    • On mobile, the product image and price ticket sit above the fold. On desktop, the comparison sits at the top of the page.
Before: product page showing a single Coles price and Buy button
    Before: one store price first
After: product page with Today’s prices ticket for Woolworths, Coles and Aldi
After: all three chains up front
  7. Interactive price history everywhere

    • The interactive price-history chart is now the default on every product page.
    • Clearer deal badges, including a “Lowest tracked” badge for all-time lows, shown only once we have enough history to be accurate.
  8. Search and reliability

    • Improved product search so everyday queries surface the right products faster.
    • Added a “Report a problem” button so you can quickly flag anything that looks off.

What’s next

Where we’re heading. Directional, not promises: priorities shift as the data grows.

  • Easier AI sign-in. You can already connect Claude and other AI tools with a personal key from shophop.au/mcp to set price alerts and add to your lists. Next: signing in straight from inside Claude or ChatGPT, plus deeper price history there.
  • Basket alerts. Price alerts on single products are already live. Next: save your regular basket and we’ll tell you when it’s cheapest, and where.
  • Smarter personal picks in the app: suggestions tailored to how you shop, and a way to track your shopping list against your weekly budget.
  • A free browser extension, so you can compare prices across the chains without leaving the supermarket’s own site.
  • Apps in the App Store and Google Play (further out). Today you can add ShopHop to your phone’s home screen and use it like an app.
  • A monthly grocery price report: the biggest price movers, specials that may not be what they seem, and shrinkflation across Woolworths, Coles and Aldi, in one shareable read.
  • Deeper price history as our dataset grows, so seasonal patterns and long-run trends become clearer.
  • Wider coverage: more categories and store types, so more of your shop is comparable in one place.
